Coconino Fest 2026: Author Comics Return to Ravenna

From May 29 to June 2, Ravenna once again becomes the capital of contemporary comics with the new edition of Coconino Fest 2026.

Promoted by Coconino Press together with the Comune di Ravenna, the MAR – Museo d’Arte della città di Ravenna, and the Biblioteca Classense, the festival transforms the city into a widespread cultural stage where the ninth art meets music, theatre, and live performance.

This year’s theme is REBELS: stories of freedom, resistance, identity, and imagination. The festival poster is created by ZUZU, who reinterprets the legendary Krazy Kat and Ignatz against the backdrop of the mosaics of the Mausoleum of Galla Placidia.

Permanent exhibition of contemporary mosaics

Not to be missed is the precious Le Coq Bleu, from a watercolour by Marc Chagall, which will envelop you in its blues and transport you to a Jewish imagery dominated by love.

If you want to enjoy the infinite variations of colour, size and shape of a mosaic tile, and its patterns, linger quietly on the six mosaic shovels on the walls.

Coloured paper butterflies, spray bottle caps, folded cards, straws, long fragments of marble laced in undulating movements, like sea organisms lulled by the current. You will find Japanese poetic suggestions, mosaic sculptures now disturbing now joyful; micromosaics, trencadìs, pop icons, reflections on food and dreams in drawers.
